We've turned quite a corner recently.
A lot is connected to the fact that our eldest now goes to sleep unassisted by 7pm. It makes a huge difference to our lives. It happened because my Beautiful Wife, despite her best efforts, could no longer spend an hour or more lulling her to sleep in the afternoon with having a younger one to deal with. So her lunchtime sleep got dropped by default meaning by 7pm she was cream crackered and hence off like a light. Hallelujah!
What's more our youngest has already learnt to send herself off to sleep quite happily because quite frankly neither parent has been available like we were for our first. She's just worked it out herself (no point whining for no reason coz nobodies likely to come & nurse!)
We both feel much more human. :-)
Plus, I think aided by this fairer weather, I've taken a different tack with my Beautiful Wife (BW).
A couple of wise journeymen (as I call my closest friends & consorts) have at various times challenged me to activily cherish her despite my (possibly legitimate) complaints.
I took it to my Dad in Heaven one night and He said fairly clearly that fixing her was really not my business, nor was focussing my attention here. What was my business was fixing me and treating BW in the manner that I should. I think it sunk in some.
This is now where I'm investing...and the fruit seems to be evident for us. A much happier & blessed wife and a challenge for me that I CAN do something about rather than one that I become ever frustrated with.
And a happy wife is of course more likely to want to bless her husband. A curious win win resulting from a seemingly inverse reaction to a problem.
Sounds like the topsy turvy Kingdom to me. Sweet.

sweet, sweet, sweet indeed! I love topsy turvy - I love the way God battles with us according to our rules but always wins according to His (if you know what I mean!?)
