Michael Jackson

I greeted my colleague with "Morning!" on Friday. He answered "Are you? [mourning]". After some moments of confusion I learnt of Michael Jackson's death.

Hmmm...quite a shock...well it was and it wasn't - after seeing his state at his comeback concert publicity launch I wasn't as shocked as I might have been.

Anyway it's indeed the death of a legend. And someone whose moves & music are a part of me. Anyone who knows me knows that. Many an hour I studied his style & practiced the moon walk. A few stages saw me impersonating him & countless dance floors something similar.

The circus is now in full swing of course. It doesnt take a genius to figure he was somewhat of a twisted and/or tormented soul. But he was a man of vast talent who I used to idolise greatly and will always respect (despite his darker side) for his artistic brilliance. [Anyway - many a bible hero has an equally black side and we all have those corners don't we??]

I think what I take from his life is that he was a man "in the zone" when doing what he does best. I think you see a little of God when you see someone excell - perform with skill, excellence & fluidity. He was a perfectionist and undoubtedly an exceptional talent in music, dance and media manipulation (forget not that he created most of the myths himself).

Yes, I'm sad that it's ended so tragically. A man that deeply needed help yet clearly never got it (or wanted to take it?). It yet again reminds me of the great need in this world for that which Michael famously sung about - healing.

I have a job to do of being part of that - of persueing the vision given to me of helping people and also to join with The Maker, enjoy life with Him to the full as we dance it out...in the zone.

Can you feel it?
